Working Principle of the Conical Serrated Lock Washer

When the nut is tightened, the conical serrated lock washer is under pressure. Due to its conical structure, it generates a radial expansion force, making the teeth on the inner ring bite the surface of the bolt and the teeth on the outer ring embed into the surface of the connected component or the nut. When there are external forces such as vibration and impact during the operation of the equipment, which tend to make the nut loose, the frictional force and the biting force of the washer prevent the nut from rotating. Even if the nut rotates slightly, the serrations will form pits on the surface of the connected component, further increasing the frictional force and preventing further loosening.
